GUIYOU HUANG, Ph.D., is Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty and Professor of English at Norwich University, Northfield, Vermont. Previously he had served as Dean of Biscayne College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences and Dean of Undergraduate Studies & Programs at St. Thomas University, Miami, Florida, and numerous other administrative roles in different institutions, including Honors College Director at Grand Valley State University, Michigan; Director of University Honors Program and Chair of the English Department at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. He has taught a diverse range of courses in American literature and literary theory at both the graduate and undergraduate levels in universities of the US and China, including Lehigh University, Pennsylvania; Texas A&M University - College Station; Peking University; and Qufu Normal University, China.

Dr. Huang’s research concerns four main areas: 19th and 20th-century American literature, Asian American Studies, China-US comparative cultural studies, and Global Education. He is author and editor of over ten books, including Asian, Asian American, American: Texts in Between, The Columbia Guide to Asian American Literature since 1945 (Columbia UP, 2006), Whitmanism, Imagism, and Modernism in China and America (Susquehanna UP, 1997), The Greenwood Encyclopedia of Asian American Literature (Greenwood P, 2009), Global Perspectives on Asian American Literature (Beijing Foreign Language Teaching & Research P, 2008), Asian American Literary Studies (Edinburgh UP, 2005), Asian American Short Story Writers (Greenwood P, 2003), Asian American Poets (Greenwood P, 2002), and Asian American Autobiographers (Greenwood P, 2001). He is co-translator, into Chinese, of Approaching Postmodernism (Peking UP, 1991), and co-editor and contributor to A Companion to Masterpieces in World Poetry (Peking UP, 1990). In addition, he has printed fifty articles and essays (mostly in English and some in Chinese), and has made presentations and speeches at many national and international conferences in North America, Asia, and Europe.

Dr. Huang was a Visiting Scholar with ETS in Princeton in 2007 and served on the College Board SAT Critical Reading Test Development Committee. He is a Guest Research Fellow at Beijing Foreign Studies University, Honorary Professor respectively at Qufu Normal University, Yantai University, Jining College, Zhejiang Gongshan University, and Shandong Economics University. He was chosen to participate in Harvard’s MLE (Management and Leadership in Education) in 2009 and IEM (Institute for Educational Management) in 2012.
