内容提要
当下我们所处的全球化时代,在协商国家与文化空间的过程中,要求对距离进行重新定义。世界在日益缩小,时空距离也随之产生变化,但在文化翻译的语境里,更为深刻的变化是形式、认知、情感和理解等诸方面的距离。局部细节变得愈加不容忽视,虽看似微不足道,但因直接关乎跨文化阅读体验,可对译作的接受产生决定性的影响。为了适应条件和环境的变化,翻译游离于不同的距离之间,在充满动态的空间里复制或制造文化意义。距离也是由差异引致,既是不可译的缘由,也是克服不可译的手段。本讲座试图在认知和实践的层面上,探求距离在翻译过程中是如何运作的。距离和位移息息相关,作者和原作读者的距离与译作读者的距离在性质上可能迥然不同。距离常由错位引致,故易产生疏离感,需要加以调整。本讲座对不同性质的距离进行梳理和归类,以期对进一步研究翻译的性质和问题,提出一些有益的见解。
【主讲嘉宾简介】
    Dr.SUN Yifeng is Professor of Translation Studies at Lingnan University, Hong Kong. He was educated at the Universities of Nanjing, Cardiff, Westminster, Cambridge and Leiden, where he received his PhD, and has been an academic visitor at the University of Oxford. He serves on the editorial/advisory boards of a number of scholarly journals, such as Chinese Translators Journal and Studies in Foreign Languages and Literatures. He is the author of several monographs, including Fragmentation and Dramatic Moments (New York & Oxford: Peter Lang, 2002) and Perspective, Interpretation and Culture: Literary Translation and Translation Theory (Tsinghua University Press, 2004; 2nd edition, 2006), and Cultural Exile and Homeward Journey: R L Stevenson and American Fiction (Beijing: FLTRP, 2005), and editor of Yilin Anthology of 20th Century Chinese Literature (Novellas and Short Stories) (forthcoming) as well as co-editor of Translation, Globalisation and Localisation: A Chinese Perspective (Clevedon: Multilingual Matters, 2008). His articles and essays have appeared in such academic journals as Modern Language Quarterly, ARIEL: A Review of International English Literature, Babel, Across Languages and Cultures, Perspectives, Comparative Literature Studies, Journal of Multicultural Discourses, Journal of Translation Studies, Neohelicon, Tamkang Review and other journals and collections. He is former Vice President of the International Association for Translation and Intercultural Studies (IATIS), and is now an executive council member of the Translators Association of China (TAC) and a member of translation and culture committee of International Federation of Translators (FIT).
